Winter

Winter - £4.25

A Two week topic

Winter is a two week topic which will combine very well with either of the Christmas themes.

In week one, planning includes caring for birds, making a winter environment for those animals which live in cold climates, sorting summer and winter clothes, counting penguins and making a weather chart.

In week two children explore patterns on their hats, gloves and scarves and make their own patterns on paper scarves. They can count and compare sets of snowflakes and raindrops, play a “freezing” and “melting” running game, and investigate how the trees around them have changed since autumn.

Also included on this disk is a lotto game with lovely pictures related to winter selected to promote talking. As the children play the game and chat about the pictures, you should be able to gain an insight into the children’s developing understanding of seasonal changes.

The two letters featured on this disk are S and C.

About E.Y.C.P

The idea for “Early Years Curriculum Plans” has long been at the back of my mind. Having been a teacher for 10 years and then having worked with nursery nurses for 8, I could see that planning was becoming more and more time consuming and that giving up evenings and weekends was putting off otherwise very dedicated practitioners.

The thought came to mind that a template of activity plans could be pre-prepared in such a way that they could be edited and printed off and therefore save practitioners hours of time. Work began on the first disk. After several hurdles, “Christmas Post” was released in November 2007 and has since led to 13 other disks on various themes. The response to these has been very encouraging. Feedback received by telephone, e mail and by letter has been so positive I now feel I have a responsibility to carry on!

There are a further 10 topic disks in the pipeline as well as ideas for developing continuous learning plans; EYFS planning for babies and using EYFS at home.
