The Company

This Opposites disk covers almost every aspect of the EYFS curriculum. It is a very flexible topic, suitable for all through the year but most perfect for the summer term when children can spend lots of time outdoors and when practitioners often need the opportunity to refine their observations of children in preparation for reports, either as children enter KS 1 or as they move to another Foundation Stage setting.

There is no need to set up artificial “test like” situations in order to assess the children. All these activities have been tried and tested on two and a half to five year olds, they are mainly practical, and they are all fun. This CD contains 50 planned activities featuring letter O, S, N, T and Y. As with all the disks in this range, the planning sheets are completely editable and they should form the basis of all your medium term planning. They can be adapted to meet the needs of individual children or groups, and they can act as a guide to support staff and parent helpers. The Opposites disk contains plans related to all the expected areas of the curriculum such as “Exploration and Investigation”, “Movement and Space” and “Using Equipment” and there are also many activities related to those areas sometimes neglected or difficult to observe such as “Shape, Space and Measures”, ”Health and Bodily Awareness”, “Time” and aspects of “Creating Music and Dance”.

As with all the other disks, the emphasis is on saving practitioners time! The basis of the planning is completed, there is a list of recommended story books particularly aimed at new practitioners who have not yet had time to build up a collection, and there are several, simple but attractive counting sheets. A variety of notes and signs are included on the disk to keep parents informed as to what their children are doing each week either on a parent’s notice board or in home/setting diaries.
