“Numbers” can stand on its own as a separate theme or it can be seen as a supplement to other themes.
The emphasis on this disk is introducing numbers through play whether it be knocking down skittles, shooting goals or finding pairs. The importance of introducing and reinforcing counting in fun situations such as while singing number rhymes is stressed throughout. The disk contains plans for favourites such as “5 Firefighters”, “6 little Ducks” and “Hickory Dickory Dock”.
As with all the disks, there is a feature letter for each week which on this disk are; C, J and N.
Children are encouraged to look for numbers all around them and to discuss their importance of for example those on buses or doors and clocks. There are also simple counting games designed to introduce the children to numeral recognition and practical application of addition and subtraction.
For young children being 2, 3, 4 or 5 is vitally important! One of the activities on the Numbers disk involves the children in designing an on going and ever changing display of age which they can proudly share with friends and family.
