This CD is designed to help parents, childminders and nannies support young children as they begin to read and write. It brings together the professional expectations of school and nursery, and the realism of running a home and bringing up a family.

“Beginning to Read and Write” aims to help those carers who would love to join in with their children’s delight in books and mark making, but who are a little bit worried about "getting it wrong". There is lots of information and guidance on the disk so that parents can be sure that what they are doing in the home will prepare their children extremely well for nursery and school. All the activities are in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum followed in schools and nurseries across the country.

The CD contains lots of sheets to help enthusiastic writers, form letters correctly, and also many ideas to encourage the more reluctant ones to use a range of tools carefully. There are lots of suggestions to improve the coordination and fine motor skills needed for writing.

Letters and words are introduced in fun and meaningful ways which will appeal to young children and hopefully capture their interest for ever more!
